PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Our Physical Education classes are currently involved with Table Tennis and Pickleball units. Singles and doubles tourneys are moving along in all the respective 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes. In additiion, certain 6th grade classes are also playing wiffleball.

Following Spring Break (3 days and counting), our classes will begin Soccer and Badminton. This schedule will be flexible due to our great midwestern weather.

ATHLETICS

In my last blog, I inadvertently ommited Miss Jennifer Casey and her Varsity cheerleaders for their efforts during our just-completed season. Even though coaches and players are concentrating on the game, it is easy to know when the Spartans cheerleaders are there.
GREAT JOB LADIES!!!!

Tomorrow evening marks the official end to the Winter sports seasons with the annual awards banquet. Cheerleaders and basketball teams will be recognized for their accomplishments this past year, with catering through Carrabas in Woodridge.

Tryouts for our Spring sports are (or will soon be) under way. I would like to take this opportunity to wish our Spring athletes in all sports "GOOD LUCK".

With Spring "supposed" to be here, many peoples thoughts turn to baseball....mine included. In looking at the National League, I find it interesting that the Cubs do not face the Cardinals until May 2nd in St. Louis, and August 8th in Chicago. Which team will be eliminated by their first meeting in May??? Mr. Little, your thoughts???????

A new feature on the "Dodd Blog" is our QUESTION OF THE WEEK"?

"What four famous American leaders (both locally and nationally) are recognized in the new gym at Lakeview"??

Be the first correct E-mail reply to tdodd@ccsd66.org, and be mentioned in next weeks "blog"!!

Have a great week, enjoyable break, and remember to "PLAY HARD"!!!!

MARCH, 2008

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Physical Education classes have finished their 2nd timester units on weight training and basketball, and are now moving on to pickleball, table tennis, and wiffleball (6th grade). As we go deeper into these units, singles and doubles tournaments will take place in our respective P.E. periods.

VARSITY BASKETBALL

Congratulations to our Boys Varsity basketball team following the conclusion of their season last night. Even though their record may not have been what they would have liked, individual improvement was evident with all members of our team. Following a 6-9 conference season, the Spartans defeated Butler 41 - 20 in the first round of the playoffs. Unfortunately the season came to an end with a disappointing defeat at the hands of Eisenhower. With Lakeview sporting a 15-9 halftime lead, the Generals defensive pressure and inside strength forced numerous turnovers leading to a 46-38 Eisenhower victory.

I am very proud of every member of our squad, and know that with off-season hard work, every member of our squad will participate in some type of sport next year in high school. My personal best wishes and good luck go out to all members of this years' team.

On another basketball avenue, congratulations should also go out to Mr. Little and Mr. Kukulski on the outstanding conference season their squad recently concluded. Many big wins and a 4th place regular season finish demonstrates what hard work their ladies put forth.

As a final note, I would like to say "Thanks" to the many people who helped make both our squads very successful. At the top of the list is Dr. Tiede, Mr. Windsor, and Mrs. Liles for their administrative support of our program; our AD Mr. Dvorak; transportation coordinator Mrs. Mazurek; Pete, Jim, Rob and Mike from our custodial staff; game officials Mrs. Bretl, Mrs. Wilson, and Mrs. Wrzesinski; our Boys managers Brett A., Povilas G., Kevin R., and Krissy D.;.............AND most importantly our great parent fans who followed us the entire season!!!

Enjoy your Spring seasons, and always remember to "PLAY HARD"!!
