HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!!

As we approach our holiday seasons, I would like to wish all the members of the Center Cass District #66 community a joyous and peaceful end-of-the-year.

Our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders have done a great job in their respective dance units, with the "Big Dance" coming up this Friday; December 21st for the 8th graders. The festivities begin at 1 PM. As in the past, I know our graduating class will have a great time.

As our Varsity basketball season begins in earnest, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Junior Varsity squad on their outstanding season!! The Spartans, coached by Mr. Dvorak, finished with 8 wins and only 2 losses, both of which came at the beginning of the season.

The Boys Varsity squad begins competition at the Downers Grove Mayors' Tournament on Sunday; January 6th, with Lakeview tipping off against Herrick at 1 PM in the D.G. North fieldhouse. Further competition that day will depend upon the outcome of the first and second games. As well, a great job goes out to Mr. Little on the competitive efforts his squad put forth during their season. Even though the win column was not what would have been liked, their improvement was very evident

Great support by our administration has allowed the Boys Varsity to re-enter the Westmont Rotary Tournament which will run during the days of January 8th-12th. Lakeview participated in this tournament decades ago. These two tournaments will give our athletes a chance to prepare for the coming conference season which tips off Monday; January 14th at Lakeview vs. the always tough Jefferson Wolverines.

On a final note, I would like to congratulate three former Downers Grove South athlete, two of which attended Lakeview Jr. High. These three student-athletes will be participating in bowl games at the end of December.

Zack B. (Lakeview '03; DGS '07) is a member of the United State Air Force Academy Football squad (#94) which will do battle with the University of California in the Armed Forces Bowl; Ft. Worth, Texas on December 31st (ESPN-11:30 AM CST kickoff)

In addition, Samuel C. III (Lakeview '00; DGS '04) and Martin O' (O'Neill '99; DGS '03) will lead the University of Illinois into the Rose Bowl vs. U.S.C. in Pasadena, Ca. on New Years Day (ABC Channel 7 -4 PM CST kickoff. Samuel C. III (#43) is a major contributor on special teams, as well as backing up All-Big Ten linebacker J Leman. Co-Capt. Martin O' (#64) is the starting right guard, and was recently named first team Associated Press All-American. He is the first U. of I. linemen to receive this honor since Dick Butkus in 1965. I know a number of the Center Cass community have ties to the U. of I., and will be pulling for the Illini!!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!

The school year is flying by with Christmas break nearly here! Our P.E. classes will be spending the next 10 days exclusively working on their dance steps. 6th and 7th grade will be square dancing, while our 8th graders will continue with Mrs. Garvey and ballroom dancing!!

The 8th graders had a great 1st week, and are eagerly looking forward to their final day, December 21st. The "Formal, Final Day" will feature an ellaborate ballroom formal dance, with special treats provided by the Lakeview P.T.O. Hope all the 8th grade parents can attend this gala event!

8th basketball practice has begun, with the addition of three new players who were unable to tryout during the first tryout period. These three individuals, Jeremy R., Andrew K., and John B. join the team for what looks to be a great upcoming season.
